Freaky short film from Madsteez where his Queen of WEENs character is “controlled by a council of genetically modified human forms (Zentards) that have no arms, and possess an advanced form of telepathy, allowing them to manipulate matter with their minds.”

Amon Tobin – ISAM Live (Fuck Deadmau5)

Posted by Chris Airplays, 29th November 2011 01:41pm

What with all the hype surrounding last nights Deadmau5/Nokia advert on the Millbank tower in London it makes sense for me to post a video from last weeks Amon Tobin show at The Forum in Kentish Town.

I posted about Amon Tobin and Tessa Farmer’s joint exhibition at The Crypt Gallery earlier in the year. The most impressive aspect of that show was the all encompassing feeling you got. Amon Tobin’s music combined with Tessa Farmer’s freaky organic installation and the setting of a church crypt made for the best exhibition I have ever seen.

I’ve known about video mapping (the technique used last night and in the Amon Tobin show) for awhile now. And I’ve been waiting for the technology and the creativity of some exceptional individuals to combine in magical harmony. Last week I had the pleasure of witnessing this. It was far from perfect but I wouldn’t want this fact to detract from quite how amazing it was. If anything the holes show what it is to come.

At times the show reached the point where it was no longer about an audio-visual performance and the multimedia experience that I’d been waiting for happened. Here’s to the future.
